Restaurants loved by the locals - Saint Raphael & Frejus

I love that the people in the south of France value good health and produce delicious meals from fresh, local produce. Even when you go out and indulge in wonderfully tasty dishes, it is still really healthy. The French were actually voted as having the best Mediterranean diet because they enjoy a variety of foods. We can certainly vouch for that.

Thanks to the fact my husband grew up in Saint Raphael we can always give the best advice to family and friends about the best dining spots in the village.

Here are our top 3 lunch restaurants to take in the amazing surroundings and enjoy incredibly delicious food.

1. Les Sablettes

A fantastic restaurant on the beach which open all year round. You can be sitting outside a T-shirt in December enjoying a fish platter in front of the sea. How invigorating! They have a great selection of Mediterranean and French dishes, which are always of the best quality. The portions are very too. You could definitely share an appetizer between a few of you - the calamari and mixed fish starter platter is a great place to start. The desserts are on display and are very tempting too.

2. Le Mugs Cafe

This is one of my favourite places as you can go anytime of the day for morning coffee, lunch and dinner. It’s a casual French brasserie, with wonderfully friendly staff. They serve a wide selection of freshly prepared salads (my favourite is the salmon poke bowls), burgers and homemade chips and the steak tartar with chips is to die for! Grab one of their coffees or smoothies, and spend your time people watching - it’s positioned in front of Saint Raphael’s port, so it’s a great spot for that.  Oh, and I forgot to mention they are also famous for their freshly made patisseries and cakes which are all displayed at the counter! The caramel eclairs and panna cotta are delicious.

3. Urban Beach Restaurant

Located in the beautiful port of Bolouris this local restaurant overlooks the sea, with all its little pretty boats bobbing around. The place has pretty decor, great atmosphere and lovely French and Mediterranean dishes prepared by 2 great chefs and a pastry chef. Even the large salads are delicious and the fried vegetable tempuras. Wow! After lunch you can walk along the port onto a path, which overlooks the sea and red rocks. It’s definitely one of my favourite places to relax at the weekends.

Urban Beach Restaurant

These places are conveniently just 5 minutes from the villa and you will feel energised and satisfied from the amazing food and surroundings. You might even be ready for a siesta back at the villa, just like the French do after lunch.  We won’t tell anyone.
