The best beaches in Saint Raphael & Frejus

There is something special about being by the sea that just changes your mood instantly. When I am on the beach, just sitting there, I always feel present, lifted and carefree. It's a lovely pass time to enjoy alone, reading a book, or with friends and family. The French even enjoy a pizza or picnic on the beach in October and November.

We’re lucky enough to be situated on the Cote D’Azur, which translates to the ‘turquoise coast ’. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s always warm enough to enjoy the beach. You’ll often find people sunbathing in the autumn and winter months which are preferred by locals because the beaches are less crowded.

Here are our 3 favourite beaches in the area.

1. Agay Beach

Just 10 minutes from the villa, Agay is a small harbour with great positioning by the Esterel Mountains. There are 3 sandy beaches you can enjoy as well as the red rocks overlooking the bay which offer a fantastic view. You can also get a coffee or ice-cream after enjoying your stroll and the views. For anyone feeling super sporty, there are well ridden cycle tracks here too.

2. Base Nature

A special gem of the town this is a stunning park overlooking the mountains, with a beautiful forest and sandy beaches. You can admire the views of Saint Raphael, Frejus and even up to St Tropez. Enjoy time on the beach, walk along the coastal path and head into the forest. Port Frejus is within walking distance and a perfect place to grab a coffee or crepe. It's an ex-military airport base, so the place is huge. You can cycle, run, free style BMX, and play football and basketball.  There are plenty of children’s areas. Free parking.

3. Saint-Aygulf Beach

With beautiful natural surroundings and boasting large sandy beaches, this is an area of outstanding beauty. The breathtaking beaches offer a lovely afternoon walk taking you down little coastal paths and over rocks. The 7 km round of the Villepey ponds is ideal for anyone who loves birds. You should be able to find flamingos, swans, ducks, amongst many others. Over 200 species have been observed!

Enjoy the sea and sun, beaches and coves when you visit in Saint-Raphael - it's one of the joy's here. Guaranteeing a happy and relaxing holiday.
